Let IT own the technical decisions
The business’s IT team should decide what needs backing up, how equipment is shut down and who can reconnect it. Do not unplug an office at random to speed up loading. Record device locations and required accessories. Keep sensitive data and credentials within the company’s own controlled process.
Label by destination and user
Mark each computer, monitor and accessory box with its destination. Use a consistent numbering system rather than names alone. Photograph cable arrangements if useful and place accessories in sealed, labelled packaging. A delivery is easier to reconcile when a device and its power supply can be matched immediately.
Agree packaging and handling
Screens and electronic equipment need appropriate protection. Ask who will package them and identify boxes that should not be stacked. Provide weights for heavier equipment and mention special access or lifting requirements. Transport availability does not establish specialist IT handling expertise; discuss the actual requirements before agreeing the move.
Check before restarting
At the new premises, compare devices with the inventory and route them to the assigned positions. Have the IT team inspect and reconnect equipment using its own procedure. Keep packing until everything is accounted for. Separate the transport completion check from the technical restart so missing items do not go unnoticed.
